Termesphere unveiled to commemorate 100th Legislative Session

Over the past several months, state legislators have celebrated the milestone of the 100th Legislative Session, which concluded in late month. The culmination of that commemoration was a program at the State Capitol on April 12.

A highlight of the program was the unveiling, by artist Dick Termes of Spearfish, of a Termesphere that was commissioned by the 100th Session Committee. Termes uses a unique six-point perspective to create works of art on spheres. For the 100th session, he created a large, three-foot wide Termesphere. Termes sought to not only portray the State Capitol and the legislative chambers, but also the people, activity, and emotion that is part of the legislative session.

The Termesphere was on display at the Capitol ceremony and at the reception. It will be installed this week on the 4th floor of the State Capitol, in the common area outside of the legislative committee rooms (Update: It has been installed and a photo of the Termesphere in place has been added to the gallery below.)

Termes has not titled the Termesphere; he has invited members of the public to submit ideas for a title. You can submit those here and they will be passed along.

Below are pictures of the Termesphere from several angles.
