A longstanding feature of the South Dakota State Capitol is the “First Lady Gown Collection.” The collection, which was created by the South Dakota Federation of Republican Women in 1959, features a doll-sized replica of each first lady’s inaugural gown. The display was last refreshed for the state’s 125th anniversary in 2014 and, in 2019, added a doll wearing a tuxedo to honor Bryon Noem, the state’s first “First Gentleman.”
Yesterday, the Federation of Republican Women met at the State Capitol, and used the opportunity to unveil a doll honoring First Lady Sandy Rhoden.
