Tom Lawrence on Harvey Wollman

Tom Lawrence is a longtime political reporter and columnist in South Dakota. His current publication, The South Dakota Standard, is a source for progressive political and social commentary that he co-edits with John Tsitrian.

Today on Twitter, Lawrence shared: “Saddened and surprised to learn of the death of former Gov. Harvey Wollman at 87. He seemed in vibrant health when I saw him in Mitchell in September for the George McGovern centennial. RIP to a good man and dedicated public servant. Gov. Wollman was a keen student of history and politics. He watched the Ukraine war closely, in part because of his connections to the country, which he had visited. He also looked forward to voting for Jamie Smith. Harvey was the last Democratic governor of South Dakota, and was eager to shed that title. Smith said they just talked recently and Wollman was in his element, savoring a campaign.”

Lawrence has written several times over the years about Governor Harvey Wollman, and in light of Wollman’s passing, I thought I’d link to them here:
